2025 PDFL Rookie Draft Grades

May 2, 2025

Another draft in the books! Each year, I like to compile this crap and revisit pre-draft, post-draft, and value’s 1-year from now. To start things off – Round by round analysis: Player values include pre-draft values, post-draft values, and pick value to player differential (All from DTC).

2025 Round 1

PICK TEAM PO. PLAYER PRE POST DIFF.
1.1 Nick RB Ashton Jeanty 35.0 38.0 0.0
1.2 Aaron RB Omarion Hampton 23.4 24.0 -6.7
1.3 Aaron QB Cam Ward 24.5 30.7 6.7
1.4 Dalton WR Travis Hunter 7.0 18.6 -1.2
1.5 Evan RB Quinshon Judkins 16.9 17.5 -1.3
1.6 Joey WR Matthew Golden 11.4 10.6 -8.0
1.7 Isaac WR Tetairoa McMillan 20.1 19.8 2.3
1.8 Nick RB TreVeyon Henderson 21.2 18.8 3.4
1.9 Isaac RB Kaleb Johnson 12.1 10.8 -2.2
1.10 Evan WR Emeka Egbuka 19.0 15.4 2.4
1.11 Tee QB Jaxson Dart 12.9 13.0 1.2
1.12 Aaron RB R.J. Harvey 1.7 8.8 -3.0

Best Pick: RB TreVeyon Henderson (+3.4) – Technically, Cam Ward could have been the second pick and Omarion the third pick since Aaron drafted both, so I’ll offset them. TreVeyon was valued as the 5th best player on the board. I managed to get him at 1.8. I would say a close 2nd is Isaac getting Tet at 1.7 who was the 4th best player on the board. Insane how pre-draft he was going 1.2 in Superflex mocks. Best Comp: Jamaal Charles
Worst Pick: WR Matthew Golden (-8.0) – Joey took Matthew Golden, the 14th player on the post-draft big board, at 1.6. It’s an obvious reach for a player he either loved this entire draft process, or decided to like this kid the second the Packer’s picked him in the 1st round. Either way, he has a ton of flaws for going this high and it just screams bust (from a metrics standpoint). Best comp: Henry Ruggs III
Upside Pick: QB Jaxson Dart (+1.2) – I think I hid my excitement for J. Dart a bit more than I did for Bo last year, but Dart was my QB1 in this class. Had he gone earlier in the 1st I would have done almost anything to move up to get him. I did tell Tee I liked him a lot but I’m proud of you Tee. You didn’t totally jew me here… Other than picking the QB I told you I love the most in this class. Best Comp: J.J. McCarthy

2025 Round 2

PICK TEAM PO. PLAYER PRE POST DIFF.
2.1 Nick WR Luther Burden 15.0 13.0 2.2
2.2 Aaron WR Jayden Higgins 3.9 7.4 -3.2
2.3 Josh QB Jalen Milroe 9.7 5.0 -3.8
2.4 Dave QB Tyler Shough 0.0 5.0 -2.4
2.5 Josh TE Tyler Warren 12.5 11.8 5.9
2.6 Joey RB Cameron Skattebo 2.1 3.6 -2.3
2.7 Dalton WR Tre Harris 6.1 5.9 0.9
2.8 Isaac QB Shedeur Sanders 17.0 5.9 0.9
2.9 Josh WR Jack Bech 2.6 4.4 0.0
2.10 Isaac TE Colston Loveland 8.2 11.8 8.2
2.11 Isaac RB Bhayshul Tuten 2.0 1.0 -2.6
2.12 Josh WR Jaylin Noel 1.3 1.3 -2.1

Best Pick: WR Luther Burden (+2.2) – Again, we don’t have a mandatory TE position, and I did go Bowers last year here in the 2nd so I’m switching it up. Maybe once we go TEP I’ll consider a TE as valuable again, but best pick in the 2nd was LB3. Coming in at number 10 on the final post draft big board, LB3 fell out of the 1st round most likely due to his landing spot. But talent prevails. Best Comp: DJ Moore
Worst Pick: QB Jalen Milroe (-3.2) – Not the QB you were expecting right?! We actually did a great job of keeping Shedeur in reasonable draft position (late 2nd) considering his fall. Having said that, 2.3 is a bit rich for the 92nd overall NFL pick. Milroe was listed at 19 on the final big board. The bright side with Milroe is the potential is there. We could be looking at the next Montana, Tarkenton, or Russell Wilson. Best Comp: Lamar Jackson
Upside Pick: TE Colson Loveland (+8.2) – I can’t help myself. Either can Isaac. Considering we’re moving towards TEP and a mandatory TE starting position next year, Loveland has a ton of upside. He was my TE1 on my own board. Isaac, gotta give it to you man, you know a tight end when you see one. Best Comp: Hunter Henry

2025 Round 3

PICK TEAM PO. PLAYER PRE POST DIFF.
3.1 Tee RB Jo’Quavious Marks 0.0 1.0 -1.3
3.2 Aaron WR Kyle Williams 0.0 3.4 1.2
3.3 Nick RB Trevor Etienne 0.5 0.8 -1.3
3.4 Craig QB Will Howard 2.8 1.4 -0.6
3.5 Craig WR Savion Williams 0.8 0.8 -1.1
3.6 Joey QB Quinn Ewers 4.0 1.1 -0.8
3.7 Josh RB Tahj Brooks 0.0 0.0 -1.4
3.8 Tee RB Dylan Sampson 4.7 2.1 0.7
3.9 Josh WR Elic Ayomanor 6.5 1.4 0.1
3.10 Dalton RB Jarquez Hunter 0.0 0.9 -0.3
3.11 Josh WR Jalen Royals 3.9 1.9 0.8
3.12 Josh WR Isaiah Bond 3.6 0.6 -0.5

Best Pick: WR Kyle Williams (+1.2) – If Kyle Williams isn’t good, I’ll devote my life to signing AI country songs. Kyle William’s EPD was 82 and he was picked SIXTY NINE to the New England Patriots. Wide open depth chart and paired with future HOF Quarterback Drake Maye (laser rocket arm) just seems like he’ll be this year’s Ladd and breakout immediately. Best Comp: Jayden Reed/Emmanuel Sanders
Worst Pick: QB Quinn Ewers (-0.8) – This dude turned down an $8M NIL deal to get drafted in the 7th round and make $800,000… Ewers comes in at 35 on the final big board. His EDP was at 120 so falling to pick 231 is super surprising. I wasn’t a fan based on his analytics but there was obviously something teams didn’t like about him. Best Comp: Derek Carr
Upside Pick: RB Dylan Sampson (+0.7) – Sliding out of day 2 and going to a spot where the team already drafted a running back earlier isn’t ideal (Judkins – Cleveland), but Sampson is good football player. This kind of reminds me of the Jamaal Williams/Aaron Jones double RB picks in 2017 where both had solid fantasy careers, and Sampson very well could be the Aaron Jones scenario here and have the better career. Best Comp: Ray Rice

2025 Round 4

PICK TEAM PO. PLAYER PRE POST DIFF.
4.1 Nick RB Jaydon Blue 0.0 1.1 0.1
4.2 Aaron TE Mason Taylor 1.4 3.6 2.6
4.3 Craig QB Dillon Gabriel 2.5 2.2 1.3
4.4 Evan No Pick 0.0 0.0 -0.8
4.5 Isaac WR Dont’e Thorton 0.0 0.5 -0.3
4.6 Joey RB Kalel Mullings 0.0 0.0 -0.7
4.7 Josh RB Damien Martinez 1.9 0.6 0.0
4.8 Dave TE Terrance Ferguson 1.0 2.3 1.7
4.9 Dalton TE Elijah Arroyo 1.2 1.9 1.4
4.10 Dart WR Isaac Teslaa 0.0 2.0 2.0
4.11 Garret RB DJ Giddens 3.2 1.2 1.2
4.12 Tee RB Jordan James 1.3 0.7 0.7

Best Pick: RB DJ Giddens (+1.2) – Garret made his only pick count. He drafted an elite profile in Giddens and JT’s handcuff. He also picked him at 4.11 where the big board has him at 34 (3.10). I’d be pretty surprised if he falls out of the 3rd in any other dynasty drafts. Best Comp: DeMarco Murray
Worst Pick: No Pick (Blackout Evan)
Upside Pick: RB Damien Martinez (0.0) – I don’t know why Martinez fell in the NFL Draft (elite profile) but what a draft by Seattle. Sure, Martinez is fighting for 3rd on the depth chart this year, but this definitely feels like in a year or two he’s all of sudden the dude and becomes the next Thomas Rawls in Seattle (who was actually undrafted). Best Comp: Marshawn Lynch

2025 PDFL Draft Grades:

Same as last year, I took a look at grading out how we picked when we were picking. Pick value to player selection. I incorporated all 4-rounds. One small caveat this year – I removed TE’s from the Draft grades considering the world’s value on them is so much higher compared to our league’s value of them. Warren and Loveland will be late 1st round picks in other dynasty drafts.

GRADE TEAM PRE POST DIFF.
A+ Nick 71.7 71.7 4.4
A Dustin 0.0 2.0 2.0
A- Tee 18.9 16.8 1.3
B+ Garret 3.2 1.2 1.2
B Evan 35.9 32.9 0.3
B- Craig 6.1 4.4 -0.4
C+ Dalton 13.1 25.4 -0.6
C Isaac 51.2 38.0 -1.9
C- Dave 0.0 5.0 -2.4
D+ Aaron 53.5 74.3 -5.0
D Josh 29.5 15.2 -6.9
D- Joey 17.5 15.3 -11.8

Draft Winners: Nick & Aaron – Our top picks didn’t make a difference in regard to our overall differential (we picked the right guys at the top), but we both badly needed to add a ton value quickly. We made a few moves when we had to, we picked BPA rather than reaching for need, and the NFL draft didn’t dictate our decision making too much. Well done, Uncle.
Draft Losers: Josh & Joey – Looking at the numbers, Josh picked the guys he liked no matter what the outcome was in the NFL draft. That’s illustrated by his pre-draft player values vs post-draft player values, but outside of Milroe and Martinez, Josh took a bunch of dudes I had clear red flags on (Ayomanor, Royals, Bond). Only time will tell, I guess. Joey was king reach this year. Golden and Skattebo and a 7th round QB in Ewers. The lone bright spot is 6th round RB Kalel Mullings whose best comp is Brian Robinson Jr. and he landed with the Titans.
