Dynasty Fix

Another draft in the books! Each year, I like to compile this crap and revisit pre-draft, post-draft, and value’s 1-year from now. To start things off – Round by round analysis: Player values include pre-draft values, post-draft values, and pick value to player differential (All from DTC).

2024 Round 1

Best Pick: WR Rome Odunze (+6.5) – Joey waited as the QB chaos took over and reaped the value. I love numbers and based on the analytics; Rome’s best comp is AJ Green with an Alshon Jeffery floor. Not bad.
Worst Pick: QB Bo Nix (-11.4) – Yeah, I know. A bit of a reach based on pick value; HOWEVER, Bo Nix is freak and has been my boy since September 08. He got the draft capital I wanted to see at pick 12 with a psycho coach who’s looking for his next Brees. Bo had a number of comps, but his floor is Brock Purdy. Safe pick but he’s my pick.
Upside Pick: QB Jayden Daniels (+6.2) – JD ranks #3 on the value big board and for good reason. He’s going to be a fantasy darling and have immediate upside in the trade market. The bad news: his comps were Justin Fields and RG3 – more so RG3 with stick-brittle frame. So, I wouldn’t give him too much time on your roster Dave. Sell him while he’s hot!

2024 Round 2

Best Pick: TE Brock Bowers (+12.7) – It’s not totally accurate since these values are based on a mandatory TE position, however, I love the value here. He’s basically WR/H-Back and rankings already have him close to a top-10 TE this year. Not a ton of comps on Brock but his floor is David Njoku. Ladd was a strong candidate here but 2.1-2.3 has been his zone.
Worst Pick: RB Braelon Allen (-3.3) – A star in the Devy world (which we know nothing about), Braelon landed in a crap spot with round 4 draft capital. Yes, he could be RB2 and possibly pan out better than some similar situations we’ve seen like AJ Dillon and Mattison, however, this is a guy that easily should have fell into the late 3rd. Best comp, James Conner. Jordan Howard is his middle ground at best.
Upside Pick: RB MarShawn Lloyd (-2.8) – I’m a bit bias here because I loved his profile and I love his upside. Most people hated the landing spot, but I like the opportunity. Similar to AJ Dillon (who is only on a 1-year deal) MarShawn is fighting for RB2 and clearly blocked by Jacobs, but GB has shown they want a committee. The last 3-years have been a near 50/50 split between their RB1 and RB2. GB can also cut ties with Jacobs after this year, and he’s been a bit banged up lately. MarShawn’s closest comp is Julius Jones.

2024 Round 3

Best Pick: WR Ja’lynn Polk (+4.1) – Easily Polk. A 2nd round WR on a wide-open depth chart with a 6’5″ 230-pound rookie QB with a laser rocket arm and almost no chance of being a bust. Love the value here. As a prospect, I wasn’t fan. Best comp is Marvin Jones with a Terrance Marshall middle-ground.
Worst Pick: RB Ray Davis (-0.9) – There really isn’t a bad pick in the 3rd but if I have to pick one, it’s this one. Mostly because I think Ray Davis is such an old turd and he was picked over elite profiles like Troy Franklin and Will Shipley. I get the landing spot, but I can’t get over the player. Best outcome he’s Jaylen Warren. But his floor is DJ Harper (whoever the fuck that is).
Upside Pick: RB Bucky Irving (+0.3) – I really liked Jaylen Wright, Troy Franklin, and Will Shipley. Elite profiles and I was going to write in Shipley here since he should be the RB2 in Philly, but he’s clearly blocked by Saquon. Bucky, however, is competing with a very underwhelming Rachaad White and seriously could be RB1 this time next year. Best comp is Kyren Williams with a Roc Thomas floor. You guys remember Roc Thomas?! Isaac will.

2024 Round 4

Best Pick: RB Kimani Vidal (+0.9) – I loved Kimani going into this draft. Hated he fell to the 6th but great opportunity there with the Chargers. He’ll be a long hold if he pans out, but best comp is Jerrick McKinnon with a De’Angelo Henderson floor.
Worst Pick: Owner Evan (Skipped) – Aaron was in prison and still made draft picks. Get your shit together Evan ya fuckin loser.
Upside Pick: WR Devontez Walker (-0.1) – Falling into the 4th was kind of expected with the 88 overall ADP Walker had going into the draft, but going to the Ravens is super gross. It might only be a year before he’s possibly WR2, but he’ll always be 3rd or 4th in Lamar’s poor pecking order. On the bright side, this kid is awesome. Best comp is Jeremy Maclin, with an André Davis middle ground.

2024 PDFL Draft Grades:

Same as last year, I took a look at grading out how we picked when we were picking. Pick value to player selection. I incorporated all 4-rounds this year since 2 owners only had 4th round picks. One of which didn’t even make a selection…

Draft Winners: Dave & Josh – Isaac is getting a solid boost with the Bowers’ value-to-pick so remove that shit. Great draft Isaac, but Dave and Josh killed it. Dave drafted the top 3 valued rookies. Josh nailed it with the Polk pick and getting Nabers and BT was also awesome. I love Nabers (Ja’Marr Chase, best comp if you’re wondering).
Draft Losers: Evan – every single team improved in some way over draft weekend. Except yours. Even as Tee and I were reaching like hell for QB’s, we were still improving our teams, unlike you. Last chance compadre. Make it to the fucking draft or we’re bringing back the little man. #BabyComeBack
